A fast-rising horse in the division, Scotland has burst onto the scene in the last two months after winning a Churchill Downs allowance race over Cagliostro who went on to finish third next time out in the Grade 3 Indiana Derby. Trainer Bill Mott brought Scotland up to Saratoga for his last race where he went gate-to-wire winning the Curlin. What made the victory even more impressive was that it showed a new dimension of Scotland, who had won his previous two races by coming from well off the pace. With the possibility of National Treasure leading on the front end, it is unlikely that he will make the lead, but he should sit a nice tracking trip. He feels like the type of horse that has yet to run his best race and could provide great value as an upset candidate. He may not have the name recognition of the top four contenders, but he has the talent to match them stride-for-stride.
