Thursday’s card at Saratoga Race Course will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $85,836 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Wednesday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $28,612 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Wednesday’s sequence began in Race 4 with the Michelle Giangiulio-trained Secret Rules [No. 7, $46.40] springing the upset under Luis Rivera, Jr. in a six-furlong claiming tilt. The longshot victories continued in Race 5 with Outtawaterbury [No. 6, $21.20] graduating in a 1 1/16-mile state-bred turf maiden claiming tilt under Luis Saez for trainer David Donk.
Race 6 saw a similar upset graduation by the Melanie Giddings-trained Shesinamood [No. 2, $22.80] as she got her head down at the wire under Shaun Bridgmohan to annex the 5 1/2-furlong turf maiden.
The thrilling finishes continued into Race 7 with Saez netting his third victory on the card aboard Cousin Kristi [No. 4, $6.90], who dug in to hold on for the victory in a 6 1/2-furlong state-bred optional claimer for trainer Phil Serpe.
Race 8 saw the featured Listed $150,000 P.G. Johnson go to conditioner Rusty Arnold as Totally Justified [No. 7, $14.60] graduated in style under Manny Franco in the 1 1/16-mile turf route for juvenile fillies.
With just one horse covered in the Race 9 finale, the day featured one last close finish as Saez earned his fourth win on the card with a flying finish aboard Justheart [No. 9, $32.80] for trainer Bruce Brown in a 5 1/2-furlong state-bred turf maiden claimer.
Thursday’s sequence kicks off in Race 6 [3:53 p.m. Eastern] and features the Grade 3 With Anticipation in Race 10. First post on the 11-race card is 1:10 p.m.
