The Turnback the Alarm honors Valley View Farm’s five-time Grade 1-winning filly, who captured the 1992 Mother Goose and Coaching Club American Oaks before winning the Shuvee Handicap, Hempstead Handicap and Go for Wand the following year for trainer William V. Terrill. The Turnback the Alarm is run at the distance of nine furlongs, but was contested at Belmont Park going 1 1/16 miles in 2010 as well as from 2012-2017. Belmont also hosted the Turnback the Alarm in 2008 and 2021.
