The MAN O’ WAR honors the champion who rewrote the record books in 1919 and 1920. In 1921 he was retired to stud, where he also produced a great record, having siring 1937 Triple Crown winner War Admiral. Man o’ War’s name is inscribed in racing’s Hall of Fame at the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Run in two divisions in 1959. Run as the Man o’ War Handicap in 1959 and 1961. The Man o’ War was run at Aqueduct in 1959, 1961, 1963-67, and 1987. Run at 1 5/8 miles in 1961 and 1963-67; and at 1 ½ miles 1959-60, 1962, and 1968-77.
