The IROQUOIS is named for the confederacy of North America Indians which was founded in the 16th Century. The Iroquois resided in the region that is now included in central New York State. Run at 1 1/8 miles prior to 1981; at one mile 1981-84 and in 1988; a mile and 70 yards 1985-87; at six furlongs 1989-93; and at seven furlongs 1994-present. Run at Aqueduct in 1996.
