Pick 6 carryover of $58K on Sunday at the Big A

by Ryan Martin

Sunday’s program at the Aqueduct Racetrack fall meet will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $58,827 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s 10-race program.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $2,178.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

The sequence kicked off in Race 5 – a 6 1/2-furlong main track maiden special weight for 2-year-olds – as Centennial Farms’ Litigate [No. 4, $11.60]made a triumphant debut for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. Fellow Hall of Famer Javier Castellano piloted the son of Blame.

Jockey Manny Franco guided Newcal Stable’s New York homebred Chulainn [No.10, $8.70] to an open company triumph in an 11-furlong allowance optional claimer over the turf in Race 6 for trainer Graham Motion.

W.B. Harrigan and Mike Pietrangelo’s Churchtown [No. 1, $13.20] made his first New York venture a winning one in Saturday’s featured Race 7, the $135,000 Gio Ponti for sophomores going 1 1/16 miles over the outer turf. The son of Air Force Blue went wire-to-wire through a leisurely pace under Junior Alvarado for Hall of Famer Roger Attfield.

Trainer Rob Atras saddled Swift Tap [No. 5, $18.20] to his second career win in Race 8 – a $25,000 claiming event going a one turn mile. Jose Gomez piloted the Edge Racing-owned son of Tapiture.

Raul DelValle’s Patria [No. 6, $12.40] defeated New York-bred winners in Race 9 – a six-furlong allowance event for fillies and mares over the inner turf. Kendrick Carmouche piloted the Marco Salazar-trained daughter of Bustin Stones.

With the carryover already confirmed, the final leg of the sequence went to the Eddie Barker-trained Maggie T [No. 11, $11], who held off a late rally from Maggie to win Race 10 – a $40,000 maiden claiming event going six furlongs on the main track. Jalon Samuel piloted the gray daughter of Destin.

Sunday’s Pick 6 will kick off in Race 5 [1:46 p.m. Eastern] and includes the $135,000 Forever Together in Race 7. First post for the 10-race card is 11:50 a.m. Eastern.
